Shrimp keep dying, and no idea why

Ah, yeah I think that could be the problem. In that case, what would a better time to acclimate them be? - Diego

Shrimp keep dying, and no idea why

Yeah, I don't let copper anywhere near my inverts or coral. As for supplements, I haven't used any that you've mentioned, but I did use Aiptasia X not long ago to eliminate some aiptasia that I found on my live rock.

Shrimp keep dying, and no idea why

Yes, I have many other inverts (crabs, snails, soft and lps corals) that are doing just fine. - Diego

Shrimp keep dying, and no idea why

Usually, I acclimate any inverts and corals for about 25 - 30 minutes with a 1 - 2 drip per second rate. If a longer time is recommended, how long should I acclimate them for instead? - Diego

Shrimp keep dying, and no idea why

Whelp, I just lost a $45 cleaner shrimp that barely even lasted 2 days in the main tank. This guy seemed fine when he was in the quarantine tank, so I really don't know what could have happened. What's more is that this is the 6th shrimp I've kept since I started the reef tank a year and a half...

    Zoanthid trouble

So something weird is happening with one of the patches of zoanthids on my zoa garden. For about a week now, most of the zoas in that cluster stay open for like half of the day and then close up for the rest of it?, and I can't see why. None of the other zoa clusters are acting that way, and I'm...

    Buildup on gravel

Water changes and water movement/powerheads are a big help in removing cyano. Also, if you have the room for one, conches are usually pretty adamant cyano-grazers, though they do require sand beds. My sand tiger conch went to town on and got rid of a bunch of green cyano that was in my aquarium...

Melanurus wrasse with other wrasse in 55 gallon?

So since I unfortunately lost some fish almost 2 months ago no thanks to some problems with epoxy for the rocks, my fish roster has opened up a bit, since now my only 3 remaining fish in my 55 gallon reef aquarium are my female midnight clownfish, yellow watchman goby, and melanurus wrasse...

    Montipora looking unhappy

Update - As of this morning the spongodes' polyps have fully come out again, so hopefully it starts regaining some color soon. - Diego

    Montipora looking unhappy

Oh yes, I did mix the numbers up haha! Sorry about that! And the kits I use are the salifert ones. And the monti does look like it has gotten its longest branch extended by just a little bit since when I first got it, but it's not really losing flesh. It does look more like it's just turning...

    Montipora looking unhappy

I'm not too knowledgeable on the different variants of current lights, but the LED's on mine are a little bit different. If it helps, I could send a pic of the box for the lights for more specific info. - Diego

    Montipora looking unhappy

Ok to be specific, before the water change the params were as follows: Nitrates: 10 ppm Phosphates: 0.02 ppm Calcium: 15 Magnesium: 1500 Alkalinity: 480 Salinity: 1.025 As for the other questions, it is actually one out of 2 sps corals in my tank, the other being an orange pocillopora. It and...

    Montipora looking unhappy

So I tested the aquarium, and everything (alk, phos, calc), etc.) was fine except for the nitrates, which were a little high. I did a 20% water change, so hopefully now everything will be fine. As for lights, I use the Current ramp timer pro 48" strip (since I have a 55-gallon tank) and the fish...

    Montipora looking unhappy

So all has been going well with my corals in the span of about a month that I've had them, but for about a week now my Spongodes monti has been looking a little upset. I noticed it's polyps weren't as extended as before and it looks like it's losing some color. All of my other corals are doing...
