    Snails- what kind?

For algae and housing with betas, go nerite. Mysteries are better for eating leftover food, not algae. Think junk food junkie at a buffet. If salad is all that's left, it'll get eaten albeit grudgingly. Nerites are algae eaters. Mystery snails are easier for fish to bully. They're more exposed...

    20L has been upgraded to a 55g

Found a tiny CPD in the school, seems to be a lone survivor of a successful pairing. Have not seen a new oto or ember tetra pop up yet. Go that little guy! Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    20L has been upgraded to a 55g

I don't expect any breeding, tbh. If anyone does scatter eggs, I assume they'll be eaten. Still interesting! Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

Now I have a bunch of snails, What do I do?

Margaritas are reef safe, but their lifespans will be shortened in tropical temperatures. :( Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    20L has been upgraded to a 55g

Saw one of the otos might be carrying. She's fatfat, all bulgy on the sides. Was going to do some much needed trimming and stuff... Nah. I'm going to let it stay until that's all sorted out however it's going to go. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Tigger pods

Look up Algae Barn. They'll give you a coupon for buy one get one on their 16oz mix. The pods nom the dickens out of some algae. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Java Fern plantlets

I never waited long enough. Once a few roots are well grown, I run a finger down the leaf and if it detatches, it's fair game. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    new fish died

Some get really stressed and keel over. Others look fine but maybe had an internal issue. It's really hard to say. First month is a crapshoot in general :( Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Best Wavemaker

It's in a 5g tank, so yes, just one. The "secret" is to keep them clean. Bpo has Hydors, they're quiet. I originally got a Rio 50 Plus and replaced it with the Jebao. No sound at all. I like the fact it came with a controller that will work to control more than one unit. Sent from my iPhone...

    Trumpet coral

I had something similar on a 3-head. I separated the one that wasn't doing as well and moved spots every few days (even moved tanks) until I found a spot it liked in my tank.

    Led for nano tanks

I've been using a cheap Mingdak (Chinese) LED bar on my 5.5. Hornwort, Java moss, java fern and red dwarf lily have all done well. I don't use ferts or any co2. Going to have to skim off more duckweed soon, too. It's gone layered again. :(

    seachem phosguard

Hail CoS! :D From SeaChem: Q: How do I use PhosGuard? How long does it work and when is it exhausted? A: PhosGuard is best used in smaller quantities and changed frequently. In an environment with an excessively high phosphate reading, PhosGuard will exhaust rapidly (4 – 5 days). Place the...

    dwarf water lily

I've had a dwarf lily for almost six months. The only time it's come out of the water is for a soak in a mix of dechlorinated water and API leaf zone after we remove a rooted plant. We've gotten ten sprouts off it so far, it has two more growing now. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Rose Petal Macro algae?

Some are more difficult to acquire than others, which means they're less popular. Take pink Galaxy Macroalgae, there's only one website I've found that had it listed for sale. Unfortunately, he's always out of it. I've seen rose petal macro, but the price reflected the rarity.

    oto with ich

Raising temp only seems to quicken the metabolism of ich on the fish, which is helpful. Not required for treatment. Bummer about your other fish. :( Ich treatments don't tend to kill plants, so if you don't have a bare tank, don't worry about it. Understand you'll have free floating ich until it...

    Best sea salt mix...

The fan favorite in this neighborhood is SeaChem. I use Instant Ocean salt, not crystals.

Peat Moss in Substrate Lowering pH

Not sure about crushed coral, but oyster grit (chicken feed supplement) generally balances itself kH/gH wise, so there aren't any spikes. Remember to rinse it well.
