    Live sand & ammonia

My plan, if it makes sense to all, is to cycle my tank beginning with household ammonia (I've successfully done it in the past). I will be adding live sand and dry live rock. Will the ammonia kill the sand during this process? Thanks Ed

Timing of adding fish, corals & anenomes

Looking at a 50g w/sump pump below, 23"W x 14"D v 26"H. I've had a few FOWLR's but my 1st time considering corals & an anenome with fish. Please provide suggestions as to the timing of fish, anenomes (the only fish I know definitely are two Clowns) and corals, what do I add 1st, second then 3rd...

    50g with fish & corals

If manufactured rock is plastic, I rather not use it. Will probably go wth cultured dry. Thanks Ed

    50g with fish & corals

I will be setting this up. If I purchase manufactured rock, will bacteria & algae eventually inhabit? If not, I was considering dry live rock, same question... Not considering live at this time due to hitchhikers. Thanks Ed

    Sand

Actually, in researching, dry sand may be too fine, so I'll go with live. What about rock? Same question. My experience with live were bristle worms even though I was told there weren't. Will Quick Start cycle them? Thanks Ed

    Sand

I plan on using API Quick Start for my 50g Saltwater aquarium. Says that I can add fish immediately, but will test anyway... If so, do I need live sand? Thanks Ed

Aiken; This is great info & I appreciate this (as well as the quick response). The house is fairly new (1975) so I assume I'm OK. Thanks again! Ed

40 or 50 gallon tank on 1st floor

I'm considering a 40 or 50 gal tank setup on the first floor of a house. With tank, stand, sand, rock & water I figure 780 lbs for the 50g and 640lbs for the 40g. Will the floor hold? Thanks Ed

    Clowns with anenomes

Andy, great advice, thank you! Now that you suggest introducing anenome (thinking Bubble) & clowns at the same time (1 pair only), maybe be patient and start with damsels for awhile to ensure a properly cycled tank (?), since the anenomes are more fragile. Also, what else can I add, including...

    Clowns with anenomes

Hello, all! Looking at a Jajale, 50g with sump pump. Comes with an LED but they don't provide stats, says good enough for coral but skeptical. Since it's 25" deep, may not be an issue (?). Initially I want clowns and anenome. Maybe two sets of clowns and 2 anenomes. I will add others (fish and...
