    Live sand & ammonia

    My plan, if it makes sense to all, is to cycle my tank beginning with household ammonia (I've successfully done it in the past). I will be adding live sand and dry live rock. Will the ammonia kill the sand during this process? Thanks Ed

    50g with fish & corals

    I will be setting this up. If I purchase manufactured rock, will bacteria & algae eventually inhabit? If not, I was considering dry live rock, same question... Not considering live at this time due to hitchhikers. Thanks Ed

    I plan on using API Quick Start for my 50g Saltwater aquarium. Says that I can add fish immediately, but will test anyway... If so, do I need live sand? Thanks Ed

    40 or 50 gallon tank on 1st floor

    I'm considering a 40 or 50 gal tank setup on the first floor of a house. With tank, stand, sand, rock & water I figure 780 lbs for the 50g and 640lbs for the 40g. Will the floor hold? Thanks Ed
