    Keyhole Limpet

Hello all, I posted a picture in the ID section, and it was identified as a keyhole limpet. I was wondering if anyone had any information on this little creature. I also discovered a baby (about the size of a pinky fingernail) longspine sea urchin. Any info on this as well? Thanks, Jacob

    What is this?

I saw this thing cruising around the rocks a couple of months ago but did not see it again until today when I was restructuring the rockwork. The first time I saw it, it was about the size of a dime. Since then, it has grown to about the size of a nickle. It mows through algae and moves...

    Help gobie ID :)

I had one for about a year, and it was sold to me as a Black Sailfin Blenny (aka Highfin Blenny). So, I would agree with Steve on the ID.

    What type of algae?

Look like red slime to me. Also, in your first pic, looks like you have an aiptasia anemone.

    Is it really that difficult?

I have had a Fu Man Chu for about 4 months now, and he is doing great. When I bought him, the guy at the LFS said that it would be difficult to get him to accept frozen food. The LFS held it for a week and the owner tried to feed him frozen food, but he would only eat live. The same day I...

    How to Catch A Fish!!!!

I used the bottle trap to catch my Sgt. Major Damsel. He did not go near it, but when I woke up in the morning he was in there. Off the the LFS he went!

Better pic - gorilla or porcelin crab???

I say set up a little 10 gal. unwanted hitchhiker tank and let them fight it out for dominance. That's what I did and it's almost as entertaining as the other tanks. I hate to kill things just to kill them, but that's just me.

My shrimp is a killer, and I have the picture to prove it!

I believe he is eating a bristle worm. It is a banded coral shrimp, and he is not more than 2in across

    Catching a mantis shrimp

I also had a few mantis shrimp hitchhikers on my www.liverocks.com order. The way I evicted them was with a little lemon juice. I found a used syringe from a test kit and filled it with the lemon juice. When I found the booger's hideout I gave him a good dose of the lemon juice. I had a net...

    A couple more things.....

Don't know what these thing are. The first one does move around the rock. I have seen it in at least 3 different places. I am guessing the other is a type of coral.

    Mantis Shrimp

I brought home 3 blue reef chromis from my LFS and they were fine. One day I noticed there were only 2, then 1, then none. All seemed healthy and were eating well. I talked with my LFS about it, and they said that it was indicitive of a mantis shrimp. Sure enough I started noticing those...

    Mantis Shrimp

BillyZ, I used the freshwater dip you told me about and the second one came running out like its britches were on fire. It was netted, but it seems like it has passed. Thanks for the advice and just wanted to let you know that it worked. Jake

    Mantis Shrimp

Thanks BillyZ, I remember reading that someone used lemon juice to kill their mantis. I didn't want to kill mine, so I squirted a small amount into the hole he was living in. He came darting out of the hole like he was on fire. Anyway, I wasn't quick enough to catch him, but he would not go...

    Mantis Shrimp

Ok, it is official. I have a mantis shrimp. This is the second one I found on an order of live rock. The first is living happily in my 'fuge and was caught roaming around in the packaging the live rock came in. I could not bring myself to flush him so in he went. Anyway, now that the second one...

    Bleaching Decorations

Thanks for the advice on the lava rock. I am going to try jackdp's idea of taking a toothbrush to it. I didn't realize that the lava rock would have beneficial bacteria in it. I have a 46 gal. bowfront FO. I have a wet/dry filter and 2" of live sand for filtration. I just got a RO/DI filter...
