Fishienewbie took my 29gallon setup. I still have a 20gallon tank, with black cabinet, heater, aquaclear 50 filter, and a glass top for sale. $45 is what I'd like, OBO. Also have the 40 gallon breeder with a wood canopy (no lights) I really need to get rid of. No other accessories or...

    anyone need a CO2 regulator?

I have a mint condition Milwaukee MA97 regulator in perfect working order I'd like to get rid of for $55-$60. I put a post in the classifieds section...wanted to make locals aware of it.

    FS - Milwaukee MA97 CO2 regulator

Mint condition, used for about 2 years. Needle valve, bubble counter, solenoid valve, etc. Getting rid of it because I'm weening myself out of the hobby and no longer need this regulator. Asking $55, plus shipping which I estimate at $5 for USPS priority mail...so call it an even $60. Prefer...

    Help! Glosso dissappearing...

I'm not so sure its the bulbs. I kept glosso with really old bulbs, and I'm pretty sure Tom Barr keeps it with barely 2wpg of NO bulbs. he's all about the CO2 though... what is your actual CO2 level at? I'd keep it at least 35ppm consistently.

Seachem Phosphate Test Kit Left in Garage For Winter

cold alone shouldn't hurt it, but if the reagents actually froze solid it might. since one is an acid, it should be fine...its the blue test reagent that might get messed up.

    CO2 Mix

do be aware that the Hagen system is just a boxed DIY setup. store bought bread yeast works fine...I suggest getting a little jar of it, rather than the 3-packs since the jar seals better...and store it in the fridge.

    CO2 problems (DIY)

103F is a little warm IMO for adding the yeast....coming from several years experience with making beer and mead...and thus pitching yeast into must or wort (these are technical terms for home brewing)

Tanks to blame for high energy cost?

Its not the tanks. I once managed to calculate my annual cost for 10 hours a day, 220 watts (converted to kilowatt hours, multiply by x....etc) and it turns out that 220watts for 10 hours a day, in my area, is like $5 a month. its more than likely your price per kilowatt hour and therm (for...

    Plants and UGF?

none of those are heavy rooters, with the possible exception of whatever 'grass' plant you choose. teh bigger issue is that UGF's need to be pulled up once a year and cleaned, which means pulling all the plants out, and that stresses them a little. UGF has its place, especially RUGF, but for...

    Val? Plant ID

it looks exactly like crypt. retrospiralis. and it IS a fast grower. those are crypt roots, not val runners.

    Erythromycin For BGA

eurythro should be the last step taken against BGA. As with humans, excessive use of antibiotics in a fish tank will result in stronger, resistent strains of bacteria. BGA treatement steps (assuming that cleaning off all plants, decor, vac'ing out the floating BGA, and doing a massive water...

    Phosphate test kit?

Ketso, basically you'd use something like Chuck's calculator to mix up a solution of, say, .5ppm or 1.0ppm concentration. a known concentration. then you test it and see if your kit passes. I've always used SeaChem's phosphate kit. $10, 75 tests, as accurate as you can get without going...

    Coralite lighting help!

I typically just feed at the back of the tank, where the glass top is cut apart for the filter intake, or where the HOB filter sits.

    Moss Balls Breaking up

that's one reason I never bought more than one marimo ball. even under high light with CO2 it fell apart or my fish would rip it up.

    how much CO2 is deadly?

I've held 45ppm for months without any fish deaths or visible signs of stress.

    reading test results

zezmo's right...hold against the card, with strong light shining down on it, either sunlight or a crisp white lightbulb. soft/yellow incandescents can alter the tint of the results, as can shadows if the light isn't bright enough.
