    Aggressive Danio

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Aggressive Danio

I Have a 20g freshwater W/ 2 rainbowfish, 3 pearl Danio's, and 5 black Molly's. I have noticed that the larger of the Pearl Danio's is extremely aggressive towards the other Danio's and even the Rainbowfish. I wouldn't necessarily mind except I think he has hurt another Danio which has an open...

It seems very similar to the Cairns Rainbowfish.

    What fish is this

I previously thought these were 2 pearl Danios that my neighbor had given me, but I bought 3 more and realized that they are not pearl Danios. My Fish: Pearl Danio Image from Wikipedia, which matches the 3 I just got.:

    Color Changing Pearl Danio's

I'm going to try and post a pic later, but when I came home from vacation, one of my pearl Danio's had become a beautiful blue color. I checked the levels and the Ammonia levels were very high, so I did 2 x 50% partial water changes (pwc) and when I was done, he was back to an opaque color...

    Tank conection

you know, I went to that website, and now I think it would be cool to DIY a tank that was in the shape of an "L" to fit in a corner. You would have to fuse 2 tanks together.

This looks like a good place for some info on connecting tanks

    Tank conection

I would definitely want to use an acrylic tube. It would ebb and flow better with temperature changes and friction against the 2 tanks.

    Tank conection

Lol, agreed. What if he was able to replace the glass of the inner walls with Acrylic which would be easier to fabricate? Would that be possible? I have never tried to mess with a tank frame but I figure it's mostly A-frame metal, glass panes, and special acrylic caulk holding it all together.

    Tank conection

And with the water flowing from A to B, all the fish would eventually end up in B and be unable to fight the current.

    Tank conection

This would require a good knowledge of physics and a good calculator. The physics behind it are that gravity is going to make the water equalize. So if tank A's water level is 5 feet above the ground, and tank B's water level is 4 feet above the ground, the water is going to probably siphon 6...

    Tank conection

I actually want to recall my statement of below or in-between. If you created a syphon you could do it without making a single cut. A little testing would be required, but it would work. Check out the Wikipedia link for the physics behind it. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siphon

    Tank conection

It would be very simple with a Acrylic tank because the material can be cut easily. With the right tools glass can be cut, and even a hole made. Because of gravity, your only options are really to have a passage below or between, not above. If you had the time and were successful, I'm sure...

I was going to a Super Pets in Annandale, but they just moved and haven't publicized their new location. We bought our pet rats there, and my neighbor has been buying his fish and supplies there for years. I will let you know when they update their location, but I doubt it is going to be any...

Well, I'm not exactly sure what is going to happen, but I promise you the fish will have a home. The fish have all come from my neighbors established 55g gallon tank, so if this hobby truly ends after this month, they will merely be returning home. I started the blog because I am fascinated...

Is a 40g filter too large for a 20g tank

My neighbor is letting me use theirs. I'm not sure of the brand, but I attached a pic of the kit. Last nights numbers were: pH: 7.2 Ammonia: 1.0 mg/l Nitrites: 0.0 mg/l Nitrates: 5.0 mg/l

Is a 40g filter too large for a 20g tank

I'm happy to do daily water changes (I assume only 10% - 15%) if that will keep the fish from experiencing any pain or discomfort from my impatience.

It's true I have started fishless cycling. My next option to help the process is to do a lot of PWC, get something already seeded from my neighbor, or give the fish back until the tank is ready.
