Looking for some ideas for my 220g tank

I don't think you'd regret doing a frontosa tank, and a 220g would give you an amazing opportunity to have a nice sized colony. They definitely get my vote here.

    Bucephalandras!

Nice! I saw that sale too and sent him a PM like an hour after his post went up haha. I'm actually in the process of tearing down my main buce farm tank so I'll be unloading a ton too.

What type of fish can live in a 5 gallon tank?

Micro rasboras such as chili rasboras would work, as would fish such as the dwarf puffer, scarlet badis and pygmy sunfish.

    23 gallon stocking advice please.

Just out of curiosity what are the dimensions of this tank?

    Bucephalandras!

Yeah, just treat them like an anubias. I use lava rock mainly for mine as it is very porous with lots of little nooks and crags to anchor on to, but I've also grown them fine on driftwood, SS mesh, eggcrate, etc. You can also place them on the substrate as long as the rhizome is exposed. I...

    Tank disaster

I agree that a drop checker is not the best overall measure for co2 in your tank but in this particular instance it's just one of those "the more collective information we have the more we can help this person" sort of things.

    Which is best

It depends. What are your goals? What sort of plants are you looking at? Do you have a particular budget?

    Tank disaster

Yeah we need to know what the drop checker reads. It's quite a bit of light on a 10g so the co2 would need to be high.

    Bucephalandras!

Buces can be low demanding but they still require a bit more care than average plants, particularly since your loss is greater financially if they don't do well. With that said I might hold off on them until your tank has a bit more going for it in terms of ferts, light, carbon supplementation...

    Bucephalandras!

I had a thread a while ago about being addicted to bucephalandras but I thought I'd start a new one sharing some pictures and personal experience with these beautiful (but expensive) plants. It started with a couple of buces I received in a plant package about 3 years ago and now in 2015 alone...

    is anything easy?

If you're looking for anything you can't find on places like Peabodys Paradise or your LFS I'd recommend PlantedTank.net's classified section. Nothing wrong with AA's classified section, of course, but TPT has like 100x more stuff and the prices are generally extremely reasonable. Feel free to...

What kind of light fixture for planted 10 gallon?

What are your goals with the tank? Will you be using ferts/pressurized co2? Did you have particular plants in mind?

    Allergy to Excel ...?

How about DIY co2? You can get a good rig going for less than $10.

    Co2 Diffusing in Aquarium

You will definitely get better results with an inline diffuser, especially for a tank that size. You are in India correct? You could probably find/order a Chinese knockoff to something similar to the Atomic brand inline diffuser, which is very effective. DIY you'd want to look at a Cerges...

    tiger barb tank mates

Convicts or kribs can generally hold their own against tiger barbs. With a 40 gallon I'd definitely bump up the number in the school though. Maybe like 12-15 (after you've cycled, of course). Also just some good tips on hardscaping...

    10 gallon stocking

Personally I'd call it a day with what you got already. Any chance you can upgrade to something like a 20L?

    What is a good light?

I'd look at a Finnex 24/7. It's dimmable so you could bring down the PAR to suit your needs but you'd also have the option of bumping it up later too!

    What is a good light?

Hi! What sort of planted tank are you aiming for? Low tech low maintenance? What sort of plants did you get? Do you have a particular budget?

    Easy fish with interesting behavior?

I find honey gouramis very fun to watch, plus they're one of the hardiest fish I've kept. They have a lot of grace in terms of their movement but also exhibit a great deal of curiosity as they glide around feeling stuff with their "feelers". I also like how they're not constantly moving forward...

    RIP Takashi Amano

Oliver Knott posted this photo of Takashi Amano surveying hardscape options at Amano's personal warehouse. Everyone loves seeing the completed works (i.e. tank fully planted and mature) but the thing I like about this picture is that it really captures Amano's emphasis on one of the most...

    is anything easy?

You don't need these products. If you really wanted to supplement your aquasoil you could add a little Osmocote+ to the bottom of the tank but even that isn't necessary. Also note that your aquasoil will leach a ton of ammonia in the beginning so you'll likely want to do daily water changes for...
