Hi, I have one of these old filters. It has two baskets inside for the filter media, the baskets connect to each other and to the pump with little rubber rings to create a seal.
I watched a YouTube video where a guy removed those rings and instead connected everything with a small length of hose. Would there be any good reason to do this, or not? There was no speaking in this video, no explanation why this improves the filter.
I also have read that the water can bypass the media in filters like this. How do I know if this is happening to my filter? Do you think this hose setup could help against this?
