overflow help

i am building a 110gal and it has a overflow in it and was wandering how high the piece should go up??? This is my first overflow sump setup!!!

Inside the overflow the height is not a function except when you are trying to stop the noise. On my systems the pipes have holes and filter floss wrapped around them. I have a oceanic tank, both of mine are adjusted all the way up as high as they will go.

do you have a pic of your to give me a idea?? how often do you change out the floss. i plan on warping the pipe in the sump with the media?? (remember that this is my first sump opinion is welcome) here is a pic of were i plan of putting the media!!! that way it can not be seen in the display!!

I pulled the pipe out about 5" so you could see the holes, they run along the whole pipe. As you can see this one is about a week old. The clips are 2" thin wall tubing. With a open top when the filter clogs the water continues to flow. Sorry I"ll try to post a pic soon.
