I was able to get my guppy tonight but the rasboras looked awful. I'm going to try a different store Sunday. The guppy came from a special "cobra guppy" tank separate from the regular fancys. Its young and its colors and fins arent quite done. Should be a nice fish.

Yeah he looks pretty good. I'm a bit judgemental though, I bred guppies for years and had an awesome snakeskin delta line. Some great half blacks too. A half black X neon blue mix is by far my favorite.

I placed my order for the finnex fugeray planted + tonight. That moonlight mode got me.

Came home to find an amazon box! I'll get a good night shot later, its still pretty bright in the room.

Looking great! With some fertilizers you could do a wonderful foreground of star Repens

Thanks Caleb. I'm glad to finally have a light sufficient for some decent plants. I'm already dosing leafzone weekly, I'm considering co2 but on such a small tank I may just stay with DIY. I'll pick up the rest of my ferts in the next week or two and start looking more at plant options when I get back from vacation. Switching to ecocomplete in about two or three weeks.

Also for anyone interested the light is a finnex planted + fugeray 12". 5 watts, 7000k daylight, 600 Nm reds, + 4 blue moonlight bulbs. Purchased on amazon for $46 plus shipping.

Here are a few more shots of the new lights. Also a shot of a ghost shrimp impersonating a harlequin. I was actually pretty stoked to get a shot of one swimming. The ghosts are so translucent they dont really show up from a distance on my phone camera so photographing them has been a challenge.

And as promised, night mode in the "river" tank.

I bought them twice from the same seller on AquaBid, listed as Vallisneria spiralis.

Tank looks spectacular with the fullness.. i just got into some leopard vals, had no idea they were 3 feet long hahah.. they're laying across the top of my 20 long.. look pretty cool though..

Question, with my new light and the ability place it as close as 11" to the substrate could I carpet DHG in this tank using ferts and glut or diy co2 injection?

Well came home from vacation to dying shrimp. Out of six I have removed two dead and can't find 3. The tank was relatively young and I don't think they had enough food.

They were fine for over a month. All healthy and very active. I was gone for technically 8 days. The fish are fine, just don't think there was enough algae and bio film to sustain the shrimp.

Agreed. Bio film can take a while to establish well for them to be okay for that long. Ghost shrimp also only live for around 6 months as well though.
