Hi All, I currently have a 272 Litre Fluval sienna and just looking for a bit of help with stocking my tank, I currently have 6 Neon Dwarf Rainbows 3 Males and 3 Females, However believe I may need to add a few more Females to the tank to disperse a bit of the male aggression towards each other however worried if my tank will be too over stocked if I do?

I currently have ~

6 Rummy nose Tetras

6 Neon Tetras

5 Cardinal Tetras

2 German Blue rams ( 1 male, 1 female)

6 Dwarf Neon Rainbows

1 Bristlenose Pleco

9 Ammano Shrimp

4 Red Cherry Shrimp

The Tank dimensions are 90cm x 55cm x 55cm

Totaling 272 litres and 71.8 US gallons although taking away roughly 10% for substrate and Wood etc this is 245 litres and 61.6 US
Gallons

Thanks Matt!

Liter wise it wouldn't be overstocking but length wise, 55 CM is rather short considering they are active swimmers. If your current rainbows are not having issues, I would add just another 2 females OR replace/ rehome 1 of the males for 3 females. (y)

The length is 90cm then 55cm deep but yes it is shorter than the usual tank of this capacity but a lot deeper instead! It's 2 of the male rainbows the keep having a go at each other the other male is fine currently

Rainbowfish males fight for breeding rites to the females so the two that are going at it are both trying to be the dominant male. This is why you want more females than males in large tanks and only 1 male in a smaller tank. At 90 cm, that would be considered a small tank ( I have 2 of them ;) ) so 1 male would be even better. If you want to keep 2 males, I'd remove the aggressor of the 2 fighting males. (y)
